Russia Plans to Continue Construction of Industrial Parks in Uzbekistan


Industrial parks opened in Chirchik and Jizzakh region together with Russia are planned to be “replicated” in three more regions of Uzbekistan, said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. Uzbekistan is ready to intensify mutual settlements in national currencies, said Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev.

Russia intends to continue strengthening industrial cooperation with Uzbekistan, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov atmeeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan on December 15 in Moscow.

According to him, Russia is one of the key investors in the economy of Uzbekistan. The volume of investments by Russian companies already exceeds 1.2 trillion rubles (about $13.37 billion).

“This, for example, applies to large-scale infrastructure and industrial facilities. Now, on the initiative of the Uzbek side, we are working on a number of projects, meaning the creation, with the participation of Russian industrial companies and the support of financial institutions, of a metallurgical cluster based on the Tebinbulak deposit, the construction of a copper processing plant at the facilities of the Almalyk MMC, a gas chemical complex in the Bukhara region and thermal power plants,” he said.

In addition, the strengthening of industrial cooperation will be facilitated by the creation of joint industrial parks in Uzbekistan, which have already been opened in the city of Chirchik andJizzakh region, he believes. “Further we plan to replicate this practice in Navoi, Bukhara and Samarkand regions,” added the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Zhamshid Khojaev also took part in the 24th meeting of the intergovernmental commission. He noted that along with the interaction between industry ministries and departments of Russia and Uzbekistan, contacts within the framework of the Innoprom exhibition were important. Central Asia” in Tashkent and the third interregional forum in Kazan, which became productive platforms for strengthening ties between business circles, manufacturers and regions of the two countries.

“Speaking about cooperation in the financial and banking sector, I would like to note the readiness of the Uzbek side to activate the mechanism of mutual settlements in the national currencies of our countries, taking into account the interests of the parties,” quotes his website of the Russian government.

As a result of the meeting,signed a memorandum of understanding between the Federal Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Business Development Bank of Uzbekistan in the field of industrial cooperation and integration of digital systems.

Recall that the industrial park in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent regionis intended for localizing the production of Russian companies on the territory of Uzbekistan.
