Russia Begins Large-scale Exercises in the Baltic Sea With the Use of Weapons


On Wednesday, August 2, the naval exercises “Ocean Shield – 2023” will begin in the Baltic Sea under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

The exercises will be attended by 30 warships and boats, 20 supply ships, 30 aircraft of naval aviation and the Russian Aerospace Forces and about 6,000 military personnel, the report said.

“In the course of the exercises, measures will be worked out to protect sea lanes, transport troops and military cargo, as well as to defend the sea coast,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

“In total, it is planned to conduct more than 200 combat trainings, including with the practical use of weapons,” the Russian ministry said.
