Ukraine’s losses during the counteroffensive compared to Russia’s are approximately eight to one, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“They announced that they would seek the defeat of Russia and victory on the battlefield, the strategic defeat of Russia. They began active military operations, the so-called counter-offensive. It has been ongoing since June 4. There are no results yet, there are only huge losses. The losses are simply huge – one to approximately eight, if in proportion,” Putin said in an interview with the China Media Corporation, the text of which was published on the Kremlin website.
He added that Russia, back in Istanbul, expressed its readiness to end the conflict by peaceful means while ensuring its legitimate interests.
“There, the Ukrainian side drew up a very strict framework for ensuring security, and we practically agreed with it. But as soon as our troops retreated from the capital of Ukraine, from Kiev, the Ukrainian side immediately threw all these agreements into the oven,” the Russian leader recalled.
