The Ukrainian military is preparing a new counter-offensive next year, its main direction will be Kherson, German security expert and political adviser Nico Lange said in an interviewDie Welt.
“Ukraine is probably gathering resources for a new counter-offensive next year,” he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).
The list of weapons Kiev handed over to the US includes Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, F-16 and F-18 aircraft, missile systems, Abrams tanks, drones and ammunition, and the order hints at a “new attempt at moving towards maneuver warfare.” Lange believes.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will, if possible, use combinations of different combat systems, which was not possible during the summer counteroffensive.
Bild, citing sources, also writes that the Ukrainian General Staff decided to postpone attempts to recapture territories under the control of Russian troops and reconsider the strategy in military operations. The new goal of the Ukrainian military is to inflict more damage on enemy personnel, the newspaper found out.
“Our goal is to achieve the most positive loss ratio. If the ratio is 10 to 1 in our favor, we will continue [to defend], if the ratio is one to one, we will retreat,” one of the Ukrainian officers said (quote from TASS).
Since the beginning of June 2023, Ukrainian troops have launched a counter-offensive in all directions. Russian authorities have repeatedly spoken about the failure of the enemy’s plans. According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, during the six months of the counteroffensive, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces exceeded 125,000 people and 16,000 units of various weapons.
On December 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a direct line and final press conference, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced a large-scale counter-offensive in the Krynok area on the left bank of the Dnieper, but nothing worked out for them.
